Abhinav Bindra, well known shooting contestant from India to all International competitions announced that he retired from shooting on 4 September 2016. Inderjit Singh, father of Abhinav Bindra speaking to media conveyed that he salutes his son’s retirement from shooting on Sunday, for the endless dedication and focus that he had put in through out his distinguished career. Abhinav Bindra had put his 22 years in this sport and given the best. Inderjit also said that Abhinav used to always believe in a motto Service before self and that is what he has done these days. he also said that this moment is little emotional and should move on.
Abhinav Bindra Retires: Announced his Retirement from Shooting
Abhinav Bindra spoke to the media and expressed his views on retirement as “”It is time to move on and hand over the baton to younger generation.” Abhinav, India’s only individual Olympic gold medalist, officially bid adieu to shooting.
He said that “It is an emotional day for me. I came fourth in Rio and now retiring after playing for two decades. In Rio, I didn’t won a medal and stood fourth but it gave me a great closure,” had said the 33 year old, who could not get his second Olympic medal after finishing fourth in the 10 m Air Rifle event in the recently closed Rio Games.

Having started his Olympic journey in Sydney back in 2000, the 33 year old shooter qualified in total of 3 Olympic finals including his golden journey of Beijing in 2008 (Athens being the other one) in his pet 10m air rifle, while he missed out in Sydney and London.
